Since its launch in 1984, the Adidas ZX series has become an iconic range in the sneaker world. Originally designed as a high-performance running shoe associated with proprietary technology, the ZX range found its way into the European rave sub-cultures in the late 1980s where it earned its stripes and made a lasting mark, ultimately becoming a much-loved and coveted lifestyle brand.
Jump ahead 20 years and Adidas launched the first A-ZX line, a collaboration between Adidas and some of the world’s most promising creative minds, for example HUF and IRAK, who were tasked with interpreting the Adidas ZX story in their own way. The A-ZX line involved 26 distinct ZX drops over the course of 2008 and 2009.
2020 has taken a turn for the better with the recent news that the Adidas A-ZX collaboration is back: one iconic brand, 26 original collaborations or concepts over the course of 2020 and 2021! Judging by the first few drops (Shell Toe, National Parks, Atmos, Juventus, Irak, DeadHYPE and Concepts) we can’t wait to see what’s still to come!
