The Air Jordan 3 made its debut during Michael Jordan’s 1987-1988 NBA season. It was his third signature basketball shoe and one that came to be associated with a stellar season for the renowned basketball player. Not only did Michael Jordan wear Air Jordan 3’s during his second straight Slam Dunk Contest win, he sported the iconic shoe at the historical 1988 NBA All-Star game where his exceptional performance contributed to him being named the 1988 All-Star’s Most Valuable Player.
As Jordan was handed his trophy, the commentary couldn’t have been more fitting, “In the league of stars and a game of stars, you were the star of stars.”
