LeBron	18 sneaker design: speed + power

LeBron 18 sneaker design: speed + power

It’s not easy having to design a shoe that’s fit for arguably the world’s greatest basketball player, but Jason Petrie, LeBron’s footwear designer has done a pretty impressive job! Bringing together the ultimate speed and performance from in the Zoom Air and Max Air respectively resulted in the LeBron 18 sneaker design, which was recently launched in China and the USA.

What do you think?

If you’re a tech geek like we are (on occasion), what makes this shoe so special? First, it has a new first-in-basketball cushioning arrangement – it’s literally divided into two halves with the Air Max unit in the heel for power and full-length Zoom air bag in the heel for speed. Second, the knit, a combination of LeBron’s favourites, is carefully considered to ensure it matches LeBron’s incredible performance. Third, considering LeBron loves experimenting with Max Air cushioning, you now see it introduced on the upper side of the shoe, replacing the tongue foam with non-pressurised air pockets, which also provides an opportunity to flash colour through socks (Love it!). Finally, the traction has been refined to ensure smoother and more efficient movement because let’s be honest, this shoe’s got big feet to fill.
